Wells Gibson was founded in 2016 by Jonathan Gibson, Managing Director.
What’s in a name? In 1988, Jonathan was introduced to the world of banking by his late grandfather, James Wells Gibson and in 1991, he was introduced to the financial advisory sector by his late father, Terrence Wells Gibson.
Wells Gibson is a boutique, family owned business and represents Jonathan’s career goal to own, manage and lead an independent financial planning and wealth management business.
Based in Dundee and serving clients principally in Scotland, Wells Gibson is focused on establishing and building quality relationships with clients. The plan is to remain small so clients receive a dedicated and specialist, Director led service.

Jonathan Gibson CFP™, Managing Director.
Prior to establishing Wells Gibson, Jonathan was a co-founder and director of Verus Wealth, Dundee (est. 2005) and AAB Wealth, Aberdeen (est. 2011), two successful and national award winning businesses, which were established in conjunction with two leading firms of accountants.
Jonathan’s qualifications include:
Jonathan has 25+ years experience as an advisor for private clients and 10+ years as a business owner.
Jonathan is married to Claire and has 3 daughters, Christina, Hannah and Katie. A Christian by faith, Jonathan also enjoys playing golf and going to the gym when time allows.
Tim Hale, BA (Hons), MBA
Tim wrote the book ‘Smarter Investing’ after seeing the mistakes made by investors when working for what is now JP Morgan Asset Management. He is CEO of Albion Strategic Consulting which he established in 2001 and now works with over fifty high quality financial planning firms in the UK, helping them to establish and manage a robust, risk-focused and low cost, passive approach to investing for their clients.
Following a career in accountancy, Kim joined the financial services industry in 2000 and has vast experience as an independent financial adviser and paraplanner and in 2013 was named Paraplanner of the Year in the Professional Adviser Awards.
Lucy has worked in the financial planning profession since 2001and has been commended for her excellent work ethic and client relationship management.
Sarah is responsible for looking after our incoming calls so she will usually be the first person you speak to when you call. She has worked in the customer services industry since leaving University in 2013.
Josh Smith (LLB)(Hons) – Associate. Having graduated from The University of Dundee in 2017 with a Bachelor of Laws with honours, he has joined the team as a trainee and is currently studying to achieve the level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning.
